The most hi-tech and mobile week of the year is over. Barcelona has been invaded by visitors from all over the world attracted by Mobile World Congress and other related events. Thanks to our hi-tech installations, we have been chosen to host Pioneers Unplugged, an entrepreneurship event that has taken place for the first time in Barcelona… and in Twentytú!

Mobile World Congress
has not let anybody down, neither by number of visitors nor for the new features presented. This year we have seen phablets (something between a phone and a tablet) a lot of wearable technology (smart watches or wristbands, following the lead of the famous Google Glass), huge steps forward into the concept of smart city, etc. Last week we told you about the eco, hi-tech, urban and smart innovations we liked most in #MWC14.

But above all, this has been the year of entrepreneurs, due to the first edition of 4 Years From Now (4YFN), a 3-day event including conferences and workshops with worldwide well-known professionals and 2.300 attendants. Do not forget that Facebook has adquired WhatsApp and just a few days after the announcement, their founders have come to Barcelona to talk about it.

Moreover, 4FYN and Barcelona Mobile World Capital have chosen us to host the Pioneers Unplugged event, designed by and for entrepreneurs in technology business, and organised by Salto con Red. The event, that took place on Tuesday 25th evening, counted on 3 interesting tech-talks to learn how to transform a good idea into a business, and make it work. The entrepreneurship experts Marc Florit, Hendrik Halbe and Anna Bofill were the speakers that enlightened us with their innovative ideas, along with the organisers Rasa Strumskyte (Pioneers Unplugged) and Pedro Olivares (Salto con Red). But there was also time for networking, fun, music with Jackie Alone DJ and… pizza with beer!

In the event we also counted on the collaboration of Damm, Roca Junyent and Softlayer as sponsors. By the way, this is what Rasa Strumskyte, Head of Pioneers Unplugged, said about Twentytú:

“Barcelona is an amazing city – charming, active and full of diversity. There are incredibly many places to accommodate yourself but at the same time it is costly and you never know what option to choose – close to the sea, city centre, shared or private room. Twentytu simply covers all the needs and the most important – offers a very social environment: it is a tech hostel and the fact that like-minded people can share the rooms, eat, co-work and even take some sun in the terrace together makes it very attractive for young travellers. What is surprising, you do not feel any discomfort of sharing your space with many other people just because everything is so well thought, taken care of, clear and environment friendly. It is perfect for your entrepreneurs – colourful and comfy co-working space, amazing terrace with wifi and 15 min walk to the beach.”
